Paul Grylls has been playing Amtgard since 1997 and now he and his friends have decided to take their love for adventure to a new level. Paul along with Adam LeRoux, Drew Rocheleau, Sean Sinclair, and Dan and Andrew Clarke have formed a group called the Wayfarers. Their goal is to travel 500 miles journey through Scotland and Ireland to raise $100,000 for cancer research.

The journey which is scheduled for late 2012 will be taken in the “classic Dungeons and Dragons style” where they will be traveling only by boat or on foot and will be staying only at locations “in the style of the classic adventures’ rest stop.”  They are planning to make the journey in full garb and gear including armor! Already the group has started a training regimen to condition their bodies for such a long walk in full gear.

They are not collecting donations directory, instead they have arranged to track donations to the American Cancer Society, the Canadian Cancer Society, and the Association for International Cancer research.  They will be personally covering the expenditures of their trip.
